As the Clouds Drift by
Meditation Meets Life...
A Biweekly Spiritual Program with meditations, discourse,
discussion and contemplative learning.
Course Instructor: Ajith Prasad
As the clouds of thoughts and emotions drift by ...
To place the mind in the sky-like vast expanse and openness ...
Feeling the texture and insubstantiality of the clouds ...
Letting the luminance of the open space of mind shine forth...
Gradually, gaining mastery over the clouds,
Easing the mind into its innate peace, compassion and wisdom ...
This is a bi-weekly spiritual program that facilitates you to engage in life with deeper awareness, peace and refreshing perspective. It also helps you arrive at the lightness, goodness and clarity of the original nature of mind. As sessions go by, and as you befriend those clouds, without getting trapped, in them a deeper sense of peace, compassion and wisdom dawns.
In this non-dogmatic way of practice, spiritual expanse is actualized through engaging in life and gradually letting go of the fetters of confusions in view and conduct. The bi-weekly sessions help you build your view and introduce the methods for meditation. Then as moments of your life unfold, you see wonderful opportunities to practice. Particularly, those moments of life that we otherwise find so depressing, exhausting and frustrating, now turn out to be golden opportunities. As these clouds of life pass by, and you apply the teachings, you come in closer contact with your own original nature and also learn to handle life in a better way - with the light of wisdom, loving kindness and compassion.
A typical session in this program consists of many meditations, exposure to various ideas from Buddhism, discussion, reflections and contemplative learning. A detailed teaching on Bodhi-charya-avataara (The Way of Bodhisattvas) is also part of this program. More details on this text can be found at the above link.
Suitability: Anyone can participate. A regular event at Thubten Lekshey Ling that helps you put every activity of life in refreshing perspectives. People attending and benefiting from this program belong to different religions and even non-believers. It is more effective if you could participate continuously for many weekends, as your perspective deepens over many sessions. However, it is also possible to attend any individual session standalone and try it out since each session is a self-contained unit.
